You will be responsible for providing in-depth design and analysis of a nationwide MPLS network supporting over 70,000 users in multiple agencies. This work is in support of the NIH Center for Information Technology.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze network performance and perform network planning
  • Analyze customer needs and generate technical requirements, using your expertise in Cisco routing and switching, troubleshooting and configuration of MPLS, BGP, OSPF, VPN and QOS
  • Identify technical problems and debug hardware and software related to Cisco carrier-class routing platforms
  • Provide network problem resolution and root-cause analysis
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • BS and nine years related experience or a MS and seven years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CCIE certification (written and lab). Without certification, you must have demonstrable expert-level design experience and be able to obtain the certification within first year of employment
  • Minimum of five years experience with MPLS and BGP
  • Knowledge of service provider or enterprise system architecture and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex routing issues
  • Minimum of five years experience with Cisco IOS-XR routers
  • Experience analyzing customer needs and generating technical design requirements in large scale networks
  • Ability to recreate customer problems in a lab environment, to assist in the isolation of issues and problem resolution
  • Proven incident management skills

Summary:
  • Ability to receive and maintain a US Public Trust
  • Must provide on call services at tier III level on a rotating basis (about one week every 6 weeks)
  • One day a week telecommuting may be permitted with approval
