We are currently seeking a Full time Business Relationship Manager (BRM) in our downtown Cleveland office. Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, the BRM works as the strategic interface with assigned practice and administrative groups to act as an advocate and help define technology strategy in the context of business objectives, requirements, and develop business-technology roadmaps. The BRM plays a key role in the shaping of initiatives and projects, collaborates to assure alignment with IT direction, and assists with marshaling of resources, planning and execution. The BRM proactively searches for and identifies sources of technology advancement to anticipate and satisfy changing internal and external customer needs.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Finds opportunities to use technology to impact firm, practice and administrative group strategy and performance. Identifies sources of advantage and looks for opportunities that anticipate and satisfy changing firm and client needs.
  • Partners with line of business leaders to advocate for technology support and facilitate technology project initiation, requirements shaping, prioritization, solution selection, scheduling, execution oversight, and communication.

  • Identifies new technology and service offerings, which may create unique, innovative, and high-value firm and client solutions. Evaluates opportunities to leverage technology to streamline business operations. Analyzes potential solutions to estimate value to the organization and return on investment (ROI).

  • Facilitates a continuous planning process. Works with business units to manage and prioritize technology needs. Responsible for building, maintaining, and tracking technology roadmaps to reflect future changes to business systems and capabilities. Ensures roadmaps align with firm business vision, strategy, practice and administrative group objectives and IT goals.

  • Understands information/technology capabilities provided by IS.

  • Anticipates needs of customers and act as a customer's advocate to provide consultative support. Understands and documents the desired outcome of a request, decides on effectiveness of existing technology solutions and considers creation of new capabilities where relevant.

  • Encourages prudent risk-taking, exploration of alternative approaches, and organizational learning. Demonstrates personal commitment to change through actions and words. Mobilizes others to support change initiatives.

  • Ensures Real Time understanding of changing requirements and market conditions of the firm and its practices.

  • Communicates technology strategy, plans and status to the business community. Informs IS about practice and administrative group plans, opportunities, and needs. Manages plans and expectations. Acts as the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams.

  • Plays a key role in the intake of projects applying business analysis and business case expertise to understand requirements, shape initial requests, and provide high-level estimates of effort and cost.

  • Markets IS services to the departments in the firm. Demonstrates the value of IS services and how they meet business objectives.

  • Evaluates and implements regular opportunity assessments. Provides IS performance results to stakeholders in the form of project portfolio status update and tracking the realization of benefits of deployed solutions.

  • Manages stakeholders' expectations across the firm.

  • Oversees initiatives and facilitates business change to ensure that value predicted by a business case is realized.

  • Communicates technical and business concepts, ideas, and conclusions. Uses an understanding of business functions and technology to analyze and propose technical strategies for the business. Assesses benefits and risks.

  • Influences key stakeholders, team members, and peers across the firm to design and deliver optimal solutions in line with stakeholder best interests and expectations.

  • Builds effective professional relationships. Maintains and extends relationships within, across and external to organizational boundaries. Obtains and shares information, ideas and challenges.

A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or Engineering and at least 7 years of relevant consulting work experience in shaping and delivering on business change initiatives is required. Master's degree and experience in mid-size to large organization preferred. Ability to demonstrate program and project leadership on large complex initiatives is necessary. Must have experience building and managing IT-to-business relationships; experience with facilitating, communicating, leading, and working with large cross-functional teams.

Must be highly self-motivated and directed with a sharp attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills including teaming, oral, and written communications. Must have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Ideal candidate will be confident, decisive, production-oriented, operationally affective and self-motivated. Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines is necessary. Must have strong collaborative and customer service orientation, leadership and people management skills. Ability to balance a wide variety of priorities. Legal or related experienced and knowledge of the practice and business of law processes is highly desired.
